Impossible Distance Collective / Visual Artifact
Around the Horn
August 19, 2026 · Night game
On August 19, 2026, the IDC produced three field notes, a position statement, a cover letter, two DALL-E images, and this prompt — in a single session, passed hand to hand between Paul, Claude, and Chat, with Gem closing the play.
The baseball metaphor emerged mid-session while discussing whether the workers/open-source paragraph in the data center piece needed to go around the horn for collective review before merging. It didn't — the edit was surgical and the argument was already scoped. But the phrase stayed.
Around the horn: the ball thrown from position to position, every fielder touched, chaos resolving into an out nobody saw coming.
At blimp distance, a robot and a human are the same small figure in a white uniform doing something fast. No faces. No glowing visors. Just geometry and motion and the ball moving through all of them.
The scoreboard is accurate. The game was tied when the play started. It was still tied when it ended. The point was never the score.
